Meat Lasagne

The traditional Italian recipe for Lasagne, with classic ingredients & special tips that will make it a success everytime

Serves 4 to 6

Ingredients

Method

  2. Cook mince until browned
  3. Add tomato paste, sugar, jars of sauce, salt, white pepper and nutmeg
  4. Allow to simmer for 25-30 mins until some of the sauce has reduced
  5. White Sauce Steps
  6. Pour milk in non stick sauce pan on med heat
  7. melt butter in microwave
  8. add melted butter to milk & add nutmeg salt and pepper
  9. add flour 1 tablespoon at a time and stir inbetween each spoonful - keep stirring in SAME direction all the time! (If it goes lumpy strain it)
  10. once thickens add the cheese, stir and leave to sit.
  11. Once Meat and White Sauce complete, assemble in baking tray
  12. Add layer of red sauce to the base of the tray
  13. Lay out dried pasta sheet flat on top of sauce
  14. Layer of red sauce
  15. Layer of white sauce
  16. Sprinkle mozzarella & parmesan all over
  17. repeat for at least 3 layers
  18. Bake for 25-30 minutes covered until golden brown on top

Notes & Tips

Dried Lasagne sheets are better than fresh in this recipe (and much quicker!) If the White Sauce goes lumpy, you may need to strain it You can use combination of minces eg veal, pork, lamb, beef
