Bolognese sauce to die for


After much trial and error, I think this is simply the best method to make bolognese.

Serves 2 to 4

Ingredients

Method

  1. Chop up the onion
  2. Crush or chop up the garlic
  3. Shred the carrot
  4. Heat up a pot
  5. Add the oil and butter (and allow it to melt)
  6. Add the onion and garlic
  7. turn down the heat
  8. Add some salt
  9. Allow to soften and brown
  10. Add the shredded carrot
  11. Add some pepper and some more salt
  12. Add the two meats
  13. Turn the heat back up
  14. Add the tomato paste
  15. Stir until all the clumps are broken up
  16. (you can add water here, if required)
  17. Add some more salt and pepper and some tabasco to taste
  18. Once the meat has broken up, add the tins of tomatoes
  19. Add some more salt and pepper
  20. Put a lid on the pot
  21. Move the pot onto the lowest heat and cook for at least two hours
  22. Stir as required or every 1/2 or so
