Tuna Mornay

A simple tuna dish that the whole family likes, budget meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 large can tuna in brine

  • 2 tbs flour

  • 2 tbs butter

  • 300ml milk

  • 3 handful grated cheese

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1 can peas and corn

Method

  • 1.

    In a medium saucepan melt butter over low heat

  • 2.

    Add flour and stirring constantly cook for 1 min

  • 3.

    Take off heat and add milk a little at a time, stirring each time until fully incorporated

  • 4.

    Put back on med, add garlic, add cheese and melt through, keep stirring

  • 5.

    Add corn and peas then tuna and heat through/ stir often so it doesn't stick to bottom

  • 6.

    My family enjoys this served over rice cooked in the rice cooker while I am cooking the tuna or for a change over pasta.

Notes

(As I buy homebrand tuna, rice, cheese and pasta this is actually a fairly low budget but relatively healthy meal that the whole family enjoys)
