Heavenly Hash

A beautiful dessert that is so quick and easy to make. I am sure there are a few of you out there who have made this before with different fruits, but I love this to bits and so do all my friends and people who taste it for the first time. Enjoy !

Serves 4 to 8

Ingredients

  • 2 x large tins golden circle fruit salad.
  • 1 x large bag of marshmallows, pink and white.
  • 2 x large bananas, sliced.
  • 1 x carton sour cream.
  • 1 x 600ml bottle thickened cream.
  • 2 x tins passionfruit pulp.
  • 2 x punnets strawberries.
  • Grated chocolate to sprinkle on top if desired, nice but not necessary.

Method

  1. Drain the two tins of fruit salad in a collander, disgarde the juice.
  2. Place the fruit salad in a large dessert bowl.
  3. Mix in the marshmallows and sliced bananas.
  4. Whip the thickened cream until nice and thick.
  5. Mix in the carton of sour cream and let stand for 10 to 15 minutes so the marshmallows can soak up some of the juices and liquid, and it sets a little. Can be placed in the fridge for this, but not necessary.
  6. Cover the mixture in the bowl with the whipped cream and smooth the top.
  7. Slice the strawberries in half or quarters depending on their size and place on the whipped cream, as fancy or hotch potch as you wish.
  8. Pour over the passionfruit.
  9. Cover with grated chocolate if desired.
  10. Place in fridge till ready to serve.

Notes & Tips

If you are taking this to a BBQ or friends and want to make it ahead of time, leave the bananas out till just before serving and take your whipped cream, strawberries and passionfruit with you and finish it off there. To feed a large crown, up to 15, use a large punch bowl and just double all the ingreadients.
