Chop Casserole

A great meal to set and forget on those days that you are going to be flat out. It's also fairly kind to the budget which is important when feeding a family.


  • 8 shoulder or chump chops

  • 2 cloves of garlic

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • flour

  • 1tbs oil

  • 2 onions sliced

  • 8 shallots sliced

  • 3 carrots sliced thickly

  • 1/2 cup peas

  • 4 potatoes cut into quarters

  • 1 tbs chopped parsley

  • 2 cups wine (or stock depending on personal choice)


  • 1.

    Rub each chop with cut cloves of garlic

  • 2.

    Sprinkle each chop with flour, salt and pepper

  • 3.

    Fry chops in a small amount of oil until browned

  • 4.

    Fry sliced onion and shallots

  • 5.

    Place meat, vegetables and parsley into a casserole dish or slow cooker and add wine (or stock)

  • 6.

    Bake at 160degrees celcius for 3 to four hours or on low setting on slow cooker.

  • 7.

    Serve with warm rolls
