Spider Web Pizzas

Make these spooky spider-web pizzas for a Hallowe'en party.

Serves 1 to 2

Ingredients

  • 225g strong white flour
  • 1 teaspoon dried yeast
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 5 floz warm water

For the topping

Method

  1. Mix the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar together in a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the middle and add the oil and water. Mix the ingredients together with your clean hands to form a soft dough.
  2. Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Put the dough into an oiled bowl, cover and leave in a warm place to rise for an hour or until almost doubled in size.
  3. Now test the dough by pressing it with your finger-it should leave a mark. Divide the dough into 12 pieces and roll them out into round circles. Place the pizza bases onto a greased baking tray. Top the pizzas with some of your favourite ingredients and bake in a preheated oven, 200c/gas mark 6 for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Cool the pizzas before decorating them. Colour the ketchup with a little black food colouring and spoon into a greaseproof piping bag, pipe concentric circles to make a web design on top of the pizza. Cut the bottoms off the cherry tomato and place on top of the web, arrange pepper or carrot strips around for its legs and add ketchup for the eyes.
