Mulled wine chocolate pots with cinnamon crust


Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 250ml fruity red wine
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • Half a teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg
  • 2 blades of mace
  • 2 large pieces of orange zest
  • 400g 70% dark chocolate

Cinnamon crust

  • 100g plain flour
  • 75g soft butter
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 50g demerara sugar

Method

  1. Take the wine and all the spices including the orange zest and place in a saucepan. Bring to the simmer for two minutes and allow the spices to infuse.
  2. Now strain the mulled wine onto the chocolate and whisk well until smooth.
  3. Pour into shot glasses, ramekins or wine glasses. Chill.

To make the cinnamon crust

  1. Rub the three ingredients together until they resemble large breadcrumbs.
  2. Place on to a baking tray and bake at 175c until golden. Cool and place two teaspoons of crust on to each chocolate pot and serve.
