A delicious Turkish pastry offering a sensational combination of fruit, cheese and figs - glorious at this time of year and served with a warm honey chilli syrup.
Using a hot wet knife cut the goat’s cheese in half lengthwise, and slice these across into thin half moons. Slice the figs.
Lay a sheet of pastry on an oven tray. Cut it into a 6x4 inch rectangle. Drizzle with olive oil, and layer with slices of figs and goats’ cheese. Lay some more filo over the top and repeat this process three times. Cook at 180c for 15-20 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes.
To make the honey chilli syrup
Using a pestle and mortar, grind the chilli to a paste. Add the honey, lime juice, olive oil and seasoning. Mix well. Drizzle the honey chilli syrup over the Burek, and enjoy.
