Whisk the egg into the buttermilk. Make a well in the middle of the flour mixture. Slowly pour in the buttermilk mixture and quickly bring the ingredients together with a scoop of you hands. Gently need the mixture to form a soft dough.
Place onto a lightly floured surface. Shape into a round and pat down to a height of 1inch.2.5 cm. Then cut into four.
Heat a flat griddle pan to hot. Then add the scones, turn the heat down to a medium heat. Cook on each side for 7-8 minutes. You can also cook in a hot oven 220degC/Gas7 for 15 minutes. Serve warm with lots of butter.
