thank you for the recipe, its the first time i have made pasta and i made it without the pasta maker, good old rolling tin, didnt take as lnog as i though either! only one little question when or how do i tell when the pasta is dry and ready to be cut, its been hangng for about an hour??
I have made pasta, but I cut the pasta b4 its dry, then I hang it up to dry or curl into loose balls and put on a tablecloth dusted with flour to dry, Works just as well. Nothing like fresh pasta. cooking time is greatly reduced so take care.
If you can afford a good machine, and afford the bit of time required....go for it, nothing like home made pasta, and it freezes well, so make a heap each time!
the big w machine was a dud for me as well. the rollers were uneven and made awful grinding noises after one use. bought the vue brand machine from myers. it is working fine so far.
What do I do with the salt?

used the machine from big w only five times and it's broken. base was also very flimsy! took two people to hold and operate. I don't recommend it.

Do you need to have a pasta making machine to make the pasta?
I don't have a pasta machine so I guess the old wooden rolling pin does the trick, just more slowly! Any further hints?
