Bacon And Olive Apéritif Cake


Ingredients

  • 180 g flour
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper
  • 120 g melted butter + 1 tablespoon
  • 3 eggs lightly beaten
  • 100 g olives pitted and sliced
  • 100 g bacon cut into lardoons and fried
  • 100 g grated gruyere cheese or 125 g grated parmesan
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary (optional)

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350ºF/180ºC.
  2. Butter and flour a loaf pan.
  3. Sift the flour and baking powder into a mixing bowl, and stir the pepper through.
  4. Beat the eggs into the flour.
  5. Beat in the melted butter.
  6. Stir through the remaining ingredients to distribute evenly.
  7. Spoon the batter into the pan and bake 45 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
  8. Cool slightly.
  9. Unmould.
  10. Slice, and serve with drinks.

    I found that there was just too much butter in this recipe. I found that you could really taste it too.

    LOVE the show and the recipes...all that I have tried were successful...my kitchen still uses imperial measures though...please have the recipes on the website converted for us

    Even with your conversion chart I can't convert this recipe to cups. Maybe you could list amounts in grams, cups (as you do on your t.v. shows) and oz.
