This family favourite can be whipped up in just over an hour.
Preheat oven to 180°c. Grease and line a 23cm cake pan.
Using a Mixmaster bowl, beat butter and sugar on High speed, until well combined. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well between each addition.
Reduce to Low speed and add sifted dry ingredients and combined buttermilk, vinegar and vanilla in two batches. Add bananas and mix until combined.
Pour mixture into prepared tin and bake for about 40 minutes or until cooked when tested with a skewer.
Allow cake to cool in pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.
