Preheat oven to 180C.
Spray a rectangular slice tray with oil.
Blend together 60g of dates and 1/2 cup of water until smooth.
Add egg and mix till just blended.
In medium size bowl combine oats, flour, walnuts, cinnamon, baking powder, salt and remaining dates.
Add date and egg mixture to dry mix and spread into baking tray levelling with a wet knife.
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
Cool in pan and then remove.
Melt chocolate according to directions on packet and spread over the top of the slice and cut into 12 bars by cutting in half lengthways and then half again.
Then cut into 3 across in other direction making 12 evenly sized bars.
Note: For a Gluten-free version, replace wholemeal flour with coconut flour. Oats can be substitued with a mix of flakes such as corn, brown rice, millet and quinoa.
