Make a sugar syrup by combining the sugar and the water and heating over a flame until the sugar has melted then bring to a simmer and cook for several minutes.
Turn off the flame and allow the syrup to cool.
Once cool put in the spices and mint and whisk to combine then put in the orange pieces and mix again.
Allow to steep for a couple of hours.
Remove orange pieces and stack about six to eight pieces on a plate.
Then take a ladle, pour in some Grand Marnier and hold over a flame gently heating the liquor. It will eventually light and begin to burn when this happens pour over the oranges and watch as they “flame”.
