This is a recipe from Kerela,India.It is a dish mainly eaten during the lunch time as a side dish with rice

Serves 2 to 4

Ingredients

  • Cabbage:500g,finely sliced
  • Madras button onion:a handful
  • Coconut:1/2 grated
  • Green chillies:4
  • Garlic:8 cloves
  • Cumin seeds:1 tsp
  • mustard seeds:1 tsp
  • curry leaves:7 to 8
  • coconut oil:2tsp
  • Salt:for seasoning

Method

  1. Coarsely pound the grated coconut,green chilliesa,garlic,onions and cumin seeds.then mix it with finely sliced cabbage. Now heat coconut oil in a wok,add mustard seeds and curry leaves,lower the flame and heap the cabbage mixture in the centre of the wok.Sprinkle with sailed water and close with a lid.Cook on low flame for about 10 to 15 minutes. Serve hot with rice

Notes & Tips

In place of madras button onions you can use spanish red onions also.
