Beef In Beer With Onions And Tomatoes


A real Winter warmer. This dish is better made the day before rtequired and refridgerated to allow all the flovours to mingle. Freezes well.

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • 4 blade steaks
  • I extra large onion sliced.
  • ½ red capsicum sliced [optional]
  • 1 750g tin of crushed tomatoes /basil/oregano.
  • 1 bottle of old beer
  • 2 tabspns olive oil.
  • 2tbspns of tomato paste
  • 1tabspn of beef stock powder.
  • flour, italian herbs, salt and cracked black pepper.

Method

  1. METHOD:
  2. Pre heat the oven to 180c
  3. Coat the steaks in a mixture of flour, Italian herbs, salt and cracked black pepper.
  4. Brown the steaks in a frying pan in the olive oil and place in a casserole dish.
  5. Mix the beer with the tomato paste and pour over the steaks.
  6. Place a good spoon full of crushed tomatoes on to each chop.
  7. Sprinkle with the beef stock powder.
  8. Cover with the onions and capsicums.
  9. Cover with a piece of glad bake and foil.
  10. Bake in the oven for approximately 1-1.5 hours.

A good slow cook dish. Prepare in the morning and put in the fridge for the flavours to mingle. Freezes well,
