Anita’s Cabbage Rolls


Anita’s Cabbage Rolls

Anita's Entree, Series 3 Come Dine with Me Australia.

Serves 5

Ingredients

  • 350g pork & veal mince
  • 350g Lamb mince
  • 1 large brown onion
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup jasmine rice
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 2 tsp Vegetta
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp chilli flakes
  • 2 tsp Italian parsley
  • 1 bottle Italian tomato sauce
  • 1 can Heinz tomato soup
  • 1 jar of Marco Polo cabbage leaves
  • 1 & ½ teaspoons of brown sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tub of sour cream
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
  2. Dice and fry onion in pan with olive oil. Once fried lightly turn off the heat.
  3. Add crushed garlic cloves.
  4. Put pork, veal and lamb mince in large bowl. Add rice, Worcestershire, 1 tsp paprika, Vegetta, oregano, parsley and the chilli flakes.
  5. Add the onion and the garlic.
  6. Add half the bottle of tomato sauce and mix well with hands.
  7. Drain the Marco Polo leaves.
  8. Roll the meatball mix in cabbage.
  9. Add tomato soup, the rest of tomato sauce one teaspoon of Vegetta and paprika along with water and sugar.
  10. Pour evenly over cabbage rolls in metal baking dish and cover with silver foil making sure not to touch rolls with the foil.
  11. Plate and serve with sour cream.
