Mary's Dessert of: Golden Crispy Loukoumades oozing with Honey sprinkled with Crushed Walnuts and dusted with Cinnamon surrounded by Strawberries, Series 3 Come Dine with Me Australia.

Serves 5

Ingredients

3 tsp dried yeast
250g sifted plain flour
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water
Canola oil
Honey
Cinnamon
Walnuts

Method

Sift flour in good size mixing bowl, add the salt along with the dry yeast into the flour.
Slowly add lukewarm water to the flour either by hand or with an electric mixer until the mixture is smooth and frothy.
Cover with a clean cloth and leave (preferably in a warm place) for about one hour.
When mixture has doubled in size, heat Canola oil in saucepan or deep fryer, being careful not to ever heat oil.
Using a tablespoon which has been coated with a little oil, spoon mixture directly into hot oil. Do not over crowd the loukoumades in the pan they will puff up very quickly. Turn them over and when golden brown remove from fryer and place directly onto absorbent paper for a few minutes to drain off any excess oil. Repeat the cooking procedure till all the mixture has been used.
Place on serving platter and drizzle generously with honey, sprinkle with crushed walnuts and lightly dust with cinnamon.
