Tipoburra pasties


its mince your choice of veggies and home made pastry

Serves 500

Ingredients

  • Traditional pasties pastry old school ( my grans recipes)
  • 1 cup s.r flour
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1cup of butter and 1 cup of boiling water
  • Filling
  • 500 grams of mince all depends on how many people you invite
  • 2 tomatoes diced
  • 1 carrot chopped
  • 1 tin of corn
  • 3 silver beet roughly chopped i like silver beet big and chunky
  • 2 leaves of chinese cabbage
  • 1 1/2 cups of homemade beef stock or store brought
  • gravy 2 tbs

Method

  1. Pasties
  2. add flours and butter in a dish poor over hot water and mix to form the pastry
  3. after needed wrap in plastic and place in fridge for an hour while your waiting on the pastry start on the filling
  4. Filling
  5. first place in a saucepan the mince brown then add veggies and then add beef stock leave to bubble stirring constantly then lower the heat and cover and simmer for at least 30 Min's
  6. when cooked to perfection add gravy to thicken
  7. allow to cool completely
  8. take the pastry out of fridge you can either make a pie or pasties gran use to do either way
  9. roll out dough and use a soup plate to cut perfectly round circle place the filling in and tucked up the edges to shape the pasties
  10. use egg wash on top if you like i think its great with out it

Notes & Tips

allow to cool a little be fore serving and serve with salad or veggies or just by its self the pastry can be used for pies and sweet pies etc if you want to use it for sweet pastries just add a little bit of sugar
