Tart in ymbre day - cheese and onion tart

Try Michelle's '2nd Remove' from week 3 of COME DINE WITH ME AUSTRALIA series 2.

Ingredients

  • 3 - 4 small onions, chopped
  • 2 bunches of parsley, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 8 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/8 tsp saffron
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp sugar
  • 1/8 tsp cloves
  • 1/8 tsp mace
  • 1 nine-inch pie shell
  • Optional spices - ½ tsp. each of any of the following type of herbs: sage, basil, thyme, etc.

Method

  1. Parboil or sauté the onions and parsley; drain well.
  2. Mix with all other ingredients and place in pie shell.
  3. Bake at 175C° for 35-40 minutes or until pastry is brown and filling is set.
