Bill Granger's LA burger


Ingredients

  • 500g minced (ground) pork
  • ½ onion, grated
  • ½ teaspoon fennel seeds, lightly toasted and crushed
  • 40g fresh white breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • Sea salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • To serve
  • hamburger buns
  • rocket (arugula) leaves
  • Roasted red pepper (capsicum)
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • sweet potato fries

Method

  1. Put the pork, onion, fennel seeds, breadcrumbs, egg and parsley in a large mixing bowl. Season well with sea salt and black pepper and then use your hands to mix everything together thoroughly. Shape the mixture into four patties,
  2. then cover and leave in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat a frying pan or chargrill pan over high heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until they are browned and cooked through.
  4. Place the patties in hamburger buns and top with rocket leaves, roasted pepper and a few slices of red onion. Serve with sweet potato fries.
