Chinese steamed fish and vegetables

Looking for something special? Try this delicious Asian-style fish dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 (about 600g) white fish fillets, such as bream, snapper or whiting
  • 2 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon peanut oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornflour
  • 125g button mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 1cm piece ginger, thinly sliced
  • 1 punnet snow peas, trimmed, halved diagonally
  • Steamed rice, to serve

Method

  1. Place fish on a flat dish that will fit on a rack or in a large bamboo steamer. Mix soy sauce, peanut oil and cornflour in a small bowl. Season with pepper and pour over fish.
  2. Scatter mushrooms, ginger and snow peas over fish. Cover fish with foil or steamer lid and steam over a wok or pan of boiling water for 5 minutes, or until cooked. Remove fish from steamer, and serve immediately with steamed rice.
