Ham and pea soup with croutons

Try Joan's ham and pea soup with croutons from the third episode of COME DINE WITH ME AUSTRALIA series 2.


  • Soup

  • .5 kg of bacon bones or 1 chopped up ham bone

  • 4.5 cups of water

  • 1 packet of split green peas (500g)

  • 1 large brown onion

  • Croutons

  • 4 slices of grain bread

  • 1 tbsp olive oil


  • Soup:

  • 1.

    Place bones, water, chopped up onion and green peas in a large saucepan and simmer for 1hr or more.

  • 2.

    Once thickened, serve with croutons.

  • Croutons:

  • 1.

    Cut bread into small cubes.

  • 2.

    In a fry pan heat olive oil. Toss bread though olive oil on low heat until golden brown.

  • 3.

    Drain on kitchen paper.
