Lebanese Kafta & Potatoes


Hearty home meal, easy to prepare mild tasting ,kids love it

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg minced meat
  • 1 medium size onion (cut in quarters)
  • 1/2 bunch of parsley
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp of: black pepper, pimento, cinnamon, nutmeg
  • 1 kg desire potatoes peeled and sliced in circles
  • Small can of tomato paste
  • Salt/pepper to taste

Method

  1. Place minced meat , parsley and spices In a food procesor & mix well .
  2. Put little oil in a Baking dish (large fry pan) .
  3. Shape meat into meatballs then flatten them a little to obtain a small burger shape. Layer them in the bottom of the baking dish.
  4. Brown both sides of the meat
  5. Layer the sliced potatoes on top of the meat .
  6. Cover with water and boil until potatoes are cooked
  7. Add Salt and Pepper to taste
  8. Add tomatoe paste and boil further 10 minutes

Notes & Tips

Fresh Tomatoes can be used instead of tomato paste. You can add 1 sliced capsicum and 1 slided eggplant on top of the potatoes before you start cooking. Serve with crusty bread or better do it the lebanese way , with lebanese bread. This dish can also be served with rice . BON APPETIT
