Easy Apple Cobbler


This simple apple crumble recipe is a family pleaser and is so easy to make.

Serves 4 to 6

Ingredients

  • 6 golden delicious apples, peeled, cored and cut into eight wedges
  • 1 ½ tablespoons caster sugar

  • 1 cup flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C.
  2. Place the apple pieces in a saucepan with a little water and the caster sugar. Cook until the apples are tender.
  3. Place the apples and their juices in a lightly greased oven proof dish.
  4. Mix the batter ingredients with a spoon until batter is smooth. Drop batter on top of the aplpe mix with a spoon (DO NOT STIR), as evenly as possible. (The batter will spread over the top while being cooked.)
  5. Cook in a preheated 180C oven for 35 – 40 minutes, or until apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.

Notes & Tips

Optional: you can add a cinnamon quill and some lemon zest to the apples when cooking initially to add some more flavour to the crumble.
