Caramel Dumplings

I love these and they are very quick and easy to make. Most of the ingredients are usually at-hand so they can be whipped up anytime you have a spontaneous dinner party.



  • 1.

    ‘Rub’ flour into butter until not lumps are left.

  • 2.

    Stir in milk with a knife to form a soft dough.

  • 3.

    Form dough into golf-ball sized balls.

  • 4.

    Combine syrup ingredients in a large saucepan.

  • 5.

    Stir until sugar dissolves and syrup comes to a boil.

  • 6.

    Add dumplings and place lid on saucepan.

  • 7.

    Reduce heat but ensure it continues to boil.

  • 8.

    Cook 12-15 minutes. Serve warm with cream and ice cream.

I grew up with these ... we used to call them golden puff balls ... divine!!

I can't wait for winter so I can make them (they look like cosy comfort food) ...hang on - it's raining outside!
