Sticky Date Pudding with Caramelised Strawberries, Flambéed in Grand Marnier and served with Cream

Alex’s dessert recipe from Come Dine With Me Australia, series 1.


  • 1/1/2 pitted dates

  • 1/1/4 water + 1 tsp bicarbonate soda

  • 90g butter

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/1/4 self raising flour 1 tsp golden syrup

  • 2 punnets of strawberries

  • 1/4 cup of grand Mariner, sauce 200g butter

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 300mls thickened cream


  • 1.

    Combine dates and water, simmer for 5 minutes together with bicarbonate soda until soft.

  • 2.

    Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs, date mixture and flour

  • 3.

    Put in oven at 180 degree for 20 minutes or until cook.

  • 4.

    For the sauce, add the butter and sugar with the strawberries and cook for 1 minute and the add the grand mariner and flambé until strawberries are rich in colour

  • 5.

    Add cream and serve warm.
