Seared Sesame-crusted Tuna with Avocado Salsa

An easy tuna recipe Lagoon Seafood Restaurant voted Australia's Favourite Seafood Restaurant in the 2009 I Love FOOD awards.


  • 150 grams fresh tuna steak

  • 5g sesame seeds

  • 3g cracked pepper

  • a pinch of sea salt

  • 1 seared scallop

  • Avocado Salsa

  • 1/2 avocado, diced

  • ¼ red onion, diced

  • red capcicum, diced

  • lime juice

  • sea salt


  • 1.

    Mix sesame seeds & cracked pepper & sea salt.

  • 2.

    Pre heat skillet pan, coat tuna steak with sesame seed mixture.

  • 3.

    Sear for desired cooking time (rare to medium) cook max 2 minutes.

  • 4.

    Top with seared scallop and avocado salsa.

  • Avocado Salsa:

  • 1.

    Mixed all the ingredients together, season with lime and sea salt.
