Chef, accomplished business woman and occasional actress Nici Wickes is a woman of many talents. Growing up in a large family, cooking played a dominant part of her upbringing with regular cook offs with her four sisters. Her mother and grandmother instilled in her a love of food and an appreciation of cooking. So much so Nici set up a small catering company in her 20’s called “Foodiegirl” where she prepared fresh and unfussy food for her clients. Following her stint in catering, Nici went on to study at the NZ School of Food and Wine in Christchurch to hone her cooking skills.
After her studies, Nici established a cooking school for teenagers called “Cooking For Confidence” where she taught them to prepare and cook amazing practical meals during the school holidays. An advocate for demystifying cooking and motivating people to cook at home, Nici’s dream came true when she hosted her own culinary travel series World Kitchen which can be seen here on the LifeStyle FOOD Channel from 8th June at 8.30pm.
