Born in Abruzzo, a tiny Italian fishing village in central Italy, celebrity chef Aldo Zilli first realised his passion for cooking when he helped his mother in the kitchen.
After studying at catering college in Italy, Aldo came to England, and at the age of 19, decided to concentrate on his passion for Italian food.
He started working in Italian restaurants, transforming them from little-know venues to celebrity haunts. It was only natural that his own restaurants should follow. Aldo now owns five restaurants, ranging from the elegant Signor Zilli in Soho to funky Zilli Fish Too on Drury Lane. Ever the trendsetter, his restaurants are perenially popular with the fashiom crowd.
His culinary accolades are numerous and include Best Italian Restaurant Award in the London Restaurant Awards; Best Media Restaurant for Zilli Fish; and Best Café. And his recently-launched cookery school, in his home town of Pescara, has been a huge success.
A regular guest on Daily Cooks and Saturday Cooks, Aldo has also appeared on BBC2’s Food & Drink and Saturday Kitchen, and has written four books that promote his love of Italian food, especially fish.... Read more.
