Hey Krystyna! I have a box of Magic Cookie bars in my pantry! A good friend of mine from the States included a box in the grocery list I gave her when she visited! But they have some nuts I'm allergic to so I can't eat it so it's still on the shelf. Maybe you can work out the recipe and post it? - then I can try these things : ) BTW, I'm trained as a fashion designer/patternmaker too : )
JACKICAM I am so sorry to take soooo long to reply to your post By now I am sure you have found a recipe for MAGIC COOKIE BARS from scratch If not here is the recipe I cut out of a magazine in 1975 when I lived in the USA. MAGIC COOKIE BARS 1/2 cup Butter or Margarine - 1 +1/2 cups (Graham cracker) biscuit crumbs - 1 x 14oz can EAGLE BRAND Sweetened Condensed Milk - 1 6oz pkt Semi -Sweet Choc. Chips - 1 x 3+1/2oz can flaked Coconut. 1 cup chopped walnuts (OPTIONAL) Preheat oven to 350oF (180oC) In 13 x 9" pan, melt butter, sprinkle crumbs over butter. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumbs. Top evenly with Choc. chips, Coconut & Nuts (if using). Press down gently Bake 20 -25 minutes or till lightly browned.Cool thoroughly before cutting. Since then, I have found if you mix the melted butter & biscuit crumbs together first, then press into the baking dish it isn't so crumbly when cutting I ALSO add the sweetened condensed milk last to make sure all ingredients stick well to each other. If you are Allergic to nuts YOU DO NOT NEED TO ADD themn. I have recently made this cookie bar with dried cranberries & no nuts as hate it when they stick in between my teeth. You can really add anything to your bar e.g. white choc chips, glace fruit, chopped apricots GOOD LUCK & once again SORRRY for taking so long..... I didnt know I had mail
