I am of Portugese and Chinese descent. My Nyonya mum and Nyonya grand-mum are excellent cooks. I inherited their recipes and the Nyonya style of cooking. I am also blessed to inherit the Eurasian recipes from my dads' siblings. Cooking is my PASSION... I love it!!
thank you, you are very informative.
Well, they are one and same thing. Malaysians term them as curry puffs and Singaporeans term them as EpokEpok. It goes the same with Roti Prata and Roti Canai - Malaysians term them as Roti Canai and Singaporeans term them as Roti Prata.
I was informed that curry puffs and EpokEpok are the same.
My mother who is from Ipoh Malaysia loves your cooking and she commented that her grandmother use to cook your style of dishes.
Norica congrats on making member of the month! You definitely deserve the honour for all the wonderful recipes you've shared with us over the past year. I love it when I see a new recipe from you so keep them coming!
Thanks Jacki and more to come.
I love Nyonya Cooking
oooo.. congrats dear for member-chef of the month :-) .. that's lovely .. i just saw the news letter .. u have interesting recipes that's for sure .. i always like to try some asian dishes.. thanks for sharing dear and congrats again :-)
Thank you Huda.
I haven't tried these recipes yet (Nyonya & Portuguese), but will definitely try them - sounds like a change from the Italian and Asian (even tho I love these too).
Give it a go and I am sure you will enjoy...
You cook amazing things! Coming from an Italian background I'm not a confident asian cook but your recipes look delicious and very authentic. Thankyou : )
Thank you for your comments. I've lived in Oz for over 25 years and deep inside my heart, I miss my childhood goodies and foods. Coming from a Nyonya and Portuguese background, I have the best of both worlds and with the addition of Oz foods, it is simply marvellous. The only thing is to learn how to cook exactly as it should be i.e. the original taste...
Jamie is one of my favourite chefs. I'v attended his cooking show when he was in Sydney.
