Top Tips to Create A Very Merry Christmas in July

The Tea Room QVB’s Head Chef, Shane Davey, shares his top tips for the perfect Christmas in July Feast:

  1. Let’s Talk Turkey: Instead of opting for the original large turkey why not opt for something a little different.  Try using poussin (spitchcock) which can be served individually rather than carving individual meat portions for each guest.

  2. It’s all in the details: Give your favourite desert a Christmassy twist!  Everyone loves Sticky Date Pudding so why not pair it with a deliciously Christmassy eggnog ice cream and a rich butterscotch sauce. It’s all in the details!

  3. Making a list... and checking it twice! Ensure you write down in advance your menu as well as a rough guide of how long it is going to take you to prepare each dish.  Leave nothing to chance - you want to be perfectly poised when your guests arrive.

  4. Preparation is key: Get all your base ingredients and preparation the day prior so when you are ready for your big feast it is just a matter of combining and cooking each of the ingredients.

  5. And if all else fails... Remember it’s more about enjoying the art of cooking and  spending time together, you can only do your best so there’s no need worrying if things are not going to plan!
