Happy Days with the Naked Chef is Jamie Oliver’s third book and clearly shows his progression as a cooking teacher. Jamie’s focus has shifted away from the uni students and younger generations and takes into account that the people who need his help can also be older couples, those with kids, boys, girls, men and women.
Using the research garnered after his first two books, Jamie has refined his recipes and his direction. Happy Days with the Naked Chef has a couple of really brilliant features: the quick fixes chapter looks at ideas for couples needing a quick meal after a long day at work, while the kids club gives ideas to parents looking to keep their kids healthy and interested in good food.
This book also contains a few of our all time favourite Jamie dishes. The “easiest and sexiest salad in the world” combining figs, buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, basil and a honey and lemon juice dressing is a great dish for friends and family, and is sure to impress any time. Jamie’s “best pasta salad” really is the best pasta salad and a favourite for picnics and work lunches. The broccoli and anchovy orecchiette is one of the most comforting dinners around.
With some of the penultimate Jamie classics in this book this is a true gem and worth seeking out.
