Best Chocolate Shops in Sydney

You love and NEED to know where to find it. We've got Sydney's best places to buy chocolate all wrapped up!

1. Adora || 10 Homer St, Earlwood. Ph: (02) 9559 5948; 2 Blight St, Sydney. Ph: (02) 9232 6601. adora.com.au

What started as a part-time project for two sisters ten years ago has blossomed into an award-winning business that supplies chocolates to clients like the Sydney Opera House. Truffles are the girls’ specialty, such as the white chocolate, lime and coconut truffle, but there’s also a nice range of dairy-free options like chocolate-coated orange slices. You can walk along the Cook River and stop off for a ‘la-la’ (café late) and a complimentary chocolate.

2. Boon || 251 Victoria St, Darlinghurst. Ph: (02) 9356 8876. boonchocolates.com.au

Once seen, these handmade chocolates are not likely forgotten. The highly decorative and beautifully packaged sweets incorporate exciting flavours like lemongrass, cardamom or Tasmanian pepperberry with traditional European techniques. You can also have a drink at the café such as an intense chocolate shot with influences from South American and Africa or a Belgian style hot chocolate drinking set.

3. Just William || 4 William St, Paddington. Ph: (02) 9331 5468. justwilliam.com.au

The gift wrapped boxes (which go up to a massive 3.5 kilo size) are what most people come here for, but there are individual chocolates for sale if you want to treat yourself. For the past 25 year, Suzanne Francis – a fourth generation chocolatier – has been dishing up sweet delights form this tiny Paddington store, so you know you’re in good hands.

4. Vanderwee Chocolates || 2/2 Knox La, Double Bay. Ph: (02) 9363 0025. vanderwee.com.au

All the way from snowy Bruges to the leafy suburb of Double Bay, Vanderwee know that some of the world’s best chocolate comes from Belgium, and have made it their mission to spread the word to Sydneysiders, importing their handmade goods fresh. They have some really nice gift packs if you’re thinking of something for a loved one, a friend, a boss, or anyone really, who needs an excuse for chocolate?

5. Haigh’s || Shp 1, The Strand Arcade, 412-414 George St, Sydney. Ph: (02) 9221 6999. haighschocolates.com.au

Despite being a franchise, Haigh’s has all the air of an old-fashioned chocolate shop seeing as the company has a 100 year history, but also due to this shop’s perfect location in the Victorian-era Strand Arcade, Sydney CBD. The traditional approach runs right through the chocolate making process – they’re one of the few manufacturers that still start with the raw cocoa bean.
