Wake up to the food at West End Deli
Sayers Food and Wine || 224 Carr Place. Leederville. Ph: (08) 9227 0429. sayersfood.com.au
Find yourself a spot on the couch amongst the regulars at Sayers Food and Wine, who have been filling the bellies of Perth locals since 06’. They blend their own coffee so why not order one of those while you scour their impressive brekkie menu. Chef and co-owner Mark Sayers plates his classic free range eggs on delicious crispy ciabattas, but if you want to step out of the norm and try something a little more innovative, you can’t go past the cured vodka and lime salmon with spring onion and feta scrambled, or the coriander and cumin beans clay pot with babaganoush.
City Farm Café || 1 City Farm Place. East Perth. Ph: (08) 9325 7229 sayersfood.com.au
How would you like some spelt pancakes with yoghurt, biodynamic boysenberries and maple syrup? Or some scrambled or fried free-range eggs with Merri Bee bacon? Before you do anything with your day, get to this suburban, every-little-thing organic garden café. The produce is fresh and the staff friendly. What’s more, the whole place is a volunteer not-for-profit community program. Have a Rubra organic coffee and get going.
Mrs. S || 178 Whatley Cres. Maylands. Ph: (08) 9271 6690.
The Menu is simple, homely and very well priced (and housed in an old school Golden Book). Have something sweet to start like their coconut bread with citrus curd and fresh fruit, or there is the Granny June’s cornbread. Alternatively they are experts in the art of poaching eggs and know the importance of a great brekkie to start the day. You can find them on Eight Ave, amongst high ceilings and pastel miss-match coloured décor. Oh, and you can BYO brekkie bubbles for a really interesting start to the day.
Toast || Shop 21. 60 Royal St. East Perth. Ph: (08) 9221 0771. toasteastperth.com
Toast has the perfect view and can be found on the beautiful waterfront on Claisebrook Cove found close to the Royel Hotel in Perth’s East. The menu is huge and you will be spoilt for choice. The Banana Bread is recommended accompanied by mascarpone, toasted almonds and honey. Get your eggs any way you like or try the porridge made better than your Grandma could. If you’re nursing yourself back to health or just want a kick start to your day, Toast is the place to do it.
West End Deli || 95 Carr St. West Perth. Ph: (08) 9328 3605. westenddeli.net.au.
