Now, for the very first time, home cooks can buy a ‘bake at home kit’ of Zumbo’s famous macarons and sweet treats in the grocery aisles. Adriano gave us a little insight into what he's been up to lately and why he has bestowed the great gift of being able to create his amazing baked delights at home.
What projects or ventures are you currently working on?
Lots. I currently have a new store opening in Bronte and am looking to open up a store in Melbourne too. I am launching an online store and am embarking on a book tour to promote my new book, Zumbarons. I am also promoting my new Zumbo bake at home range!
What are the reasons for sharing your amazing recipes with home cooks?
There are no secrets in cooking. There are very few people in the world who create new things. It’s more about tweaking existing concepts. Good chefs are here to teach people and if you want the industry to grow, you have to share your recipes– if you keep it to yourself the industry will suffer.
“Fans have always asked me for recipes, so it’s great to finally be able to lend a guiding hand in the actual baking process too!” explains Zumbo. “I want people who love baking to have fun with my range and really enjoy making my signature creations at home. Above all, though, I want to help fans produce a delicious, moreish plate of desserts they’ll be proud to unveil at a dinner party or even spoil the family with.”
Who or what inspires you in the kitchen?
Inspiration is life, it’s the way you see the world and what you believe in. It’s not something you can buy or make happen – it just happens on its own.
What is your best tip for home cooks?
Keep it simple, think about what you are going to make and don’t try and rush it.
What is your signature dish?
Either macarons, passionfruit tart or the V8 cake.
The range features Zumbo’s signature macarons in either salted caramel or passionfruit flavour, a glazed chocolate mud mirror cake and his ultimate chocolate brownies. Each pack is inspired by creations currently available in Zumbo’s pâtisserie, The Lab, in Rozelle. Yum!
