A group of us decided we would go out for dinner somewhere lovely and tried to make a booking at Longrain through the week for the following Saturday night as we had an engagement party to attend afterwards. We were told that they don't take bookings and were advised to get there early. So the 10 of us (aged 24-34) arrived at 6.25pm well dressed and looking forward to trying a new restaurant. When we arrived we were told we would have to wait 1.5hrs and we could wait in the bar. There wasn't enough room for the ten of us in the bar either at that stage so they took our details and said they would call us when something became available. And we were happy with that. But the phone call never happened!! And the real low point - we were informed that they only seat a table of 9 at their restaurant, not 10!!!! I don't think I've ever heard such nonsense. We were all clearly horrified at how poorly we were treated and will definately take Longrain off our To Do list.

Longrain is one of those highly-fashionable modern thai restaurants in Sydney and if frequented by a youngish crowd. The food is not traditionnal thai but has that asian-fusion stamp on it. The food is good but the flavours are overpowering. We have been there are few times and after a while you get sick of the same sort of flavours and over use of palm sugar on many of their salad dishes. Also, the restaurant is very expensive. On most nights it is packed full and because there are no bookings (like all these up and coming trendy restaurants) you need to get there early or risk waitin for hours at the bar (and perhaps even lose your appetite!) Regardless, it is the sort of place that you have to go to at least once and great to go there with a group of friends for a bit of fun.
